Many home cooks are intimidated by the thought of a homemade crust. It is actually much easier than you may think. A Crostata crust is a great way to start experimenting because it is a rustic tart that is not meant to look perfect and therefore very forgiving. The lovely produce in the market makes this an ideal summer dinner or lunch choice. The vodka in the crust helps to insure the integrity of the crust and giving it a flakiness.  I also like the addition of cornmeal which adds great texture and flavor.
