These squares are reminiscent of a slice of apple pie and apple crisp in a neat little square. The nutty, streusel topping is placed upon thinly sliced, caramelized apples and a shortbread crust. I served mine with a bit of ice cream and caramel sauce. A wonderful sample of fall with each indulgent bite.
